Come as you are!
St. Francis gladly welcomes and joyfully accepts all people.
Whether you’re in jeans or a suit, we’ll be glad
to see you.
Diverse, Inclusive
and Progressive. We are an interracial mix of different
age groups, nationalities, lifestyles, economic situations,
political and theological persuasions (liberal, moderate,
and conservative.) At this Episcopal Church in Macon, Georgia,
all are welcome.
Youth & Children’s
Ministries. We have lots of young adults, youth,
and children. Aside from great grounds for playing, we offer
excellent programs of spiritual formation and fellowship for
our younger members including our great Church Youth Group.
Family Atmosphere. We are
just big enough to offer a variety of programs – but
small enough to know your name. It’s easy to get involved
here.
Social Action And Service.
We devote a large share of our budget to serving people in
need, both here in Macon, Georgia and internationally. Our
members devote time and effort to community ministries and
social action sponsored by St. Francis.
Spirituality. St.
Francis offers spiritual direction, pastoral counseling, and
retreats and workshops in meditation, contemplative prayer,
centering prayer, Jungian work, and other soul care practices
ancient and new. Our specialties are Anglican Spirituality
and Episcopal Prayer.
Worship Style. We are Anglican
and use the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, but you don't
have to be an Episcopalian to worship with us. All are
welcome to receive communion. Each service has a different
style. 8 a.m. is short, simple, quiet. 8:45 a.m. is traditional,
low-church, with a choir. 11 a.m. is innovative and contemplative,
and includes gospel service music, Taize chant, silence, bells,
and incense. Our Sunday Evening service is a Celtic Communion,
adapted from ancient Celtic ritual - the only Celtic Communion
in Macon, Georgia. We offer Anointing for Healing one
Sunday each month and every Thursday morning at 10.
We offer Evening Prayer (an Episcopal tradition) each Thursday
evening at 7:00 followed by an educational program.
