God gifted each and every one of us in unique ways. Now is a good time to take stock and start to name your gifts. Take time to look deep inside to discover what you are really good at and how best to nurture those strengths so you can give them back to God.
Sometimes we worry about all we are not. We forget that God calls each of us to something special. Now is a good time to embrace the everyday ordinary of who we are. Honor it, give thanks for it.
Stewardship is responding – choosing to tend what has been given over to our care, holding ourselves accountable for helping it thrive.
What makes you special in God’s eyes? What gifts are you accountable for?
Through faith, we change in ways we never imagined. Without even noticing, we find ourselves thinking differently about money and things and people and time. We notice a need and wonder immediately how we can meet it, how to share what we have. We spot an injustice and bring our skills to bear to make it right. We reach in and reach out and enjoy every minute of the journey we are on. Trusting God to guide us, we feel incredibly free.
Stewardship is a way of life – something we practice in a dozen little ways every day. Somehow it changes our hearts and fills them with joy.
What could you give that would fill your heart with joy?
In gratitude then, we take up the challenge of Stewardship – to live as God planned.
Stewardship is about receiving God’s gifts – different for each and every one of us – then being so thankful for the blessings we’ve been given, that we give back.
Our parish needs financial support and parishioners to serve, but Stewardship isn’t just about giving money or time to meet those needs.
“Gratitude takes nothing for granted” Thomas Merton said. “For the grateful person knows God is good, not by hearsay but by experience.”
Stewardship is gratitude – for all of God’s gifts large and small, our humble, grateful recognition that everything we have comes freely from God.
For what are you grateful?
