WHY I LOVE ST. FRANCIS
First of all I love the liturgy. The words of the liturgy come back to me often when I least expect them and are a great comfort to me Dan's sermons are a great gift. They are challenging and thought provoking. I am grateful to be a part of a parish that has a priest who thinks deeply about important issues as well as the meaning of the scripture and has the courage to pass that on to us.
But, the major reason that I love St. Francis and continue to be a member of this parish, no matter who the priest happens to be, is because of the love and caring nature of my sisters and brothers who are a part of the parish. I have been here more than 20 years, and I have experienced that love and care as well as observing it being expressed to others. There is a great generosity of spirit among the members which depicts a true desire to be the Lord's body in this world. I not only love this church, I feel great gratitude about being able to be a part of it.

TOUCHED BY GOD
I was on my knees. Marian, our youth director, gently placed her hands on my head and began the prayer for comfort and healing. Several more hands lay upon my shoulders. They belonged to those who had knelt just before me to receive the Sacrament of Healing. They held back to help channel God's healing presence to whoever came next. I was accepted for who I am. I answered the only questions that mattered when I knelt down my broken body, mind and spirit before God.
We recognize we're all in the same boat. St. Francis affirms that there's always room for one more. We, like God as I understand Him reflected through Christ, are more interested in where you're going than where you've been. We celebrate all that want to join us in that journey.
As I think of those hands that touched me to heal, I think of all the other hands at St. Francis. They're always busy; working, hugging, welcoming, teaching, clapping and comforting. Who says you can't be touched by God?

MY SPIRITUAL HOME
It feels like home. When I visited St. Francis for the first time, I knew I was in the right place. The peace, love and honesty of the people here was evident before the service even started. The feeling is still with me, after more than a year. I have found a spiritual home and family.

WE ARE A FAMILY
As I talk with members of St. Francis about why they love our church, I am reminded that we are indeed a family and that St. Francis is our home.
It is a home where we are loved, nurtured and cared for; where we are taught values; where we laugh and play and grieve; where we develop our beliefs about God; where we find sanctuary and renewal; where we learn to budget and manage our finances; where we realize we can disagree, reconcile and forgive; where we discover how to share our wealth with those less fortunate than we.
Just as family members join together to build and maintain a home, we at St. Francis are responsible to be stewards of our church home. We are responsible for the program, facilities and spiritual growth of St. Francis. Whatever happens at St. Francis is up to us. When each of us gives of our time, our energy, our enthusiasm and our funds, we can ensure the continuation of the great traditions of the St. Francis Church family.
Please think, discern, and pray about our roles as stewards of St. Francis Church. Know that whatever you do with your time, talent, or funds will be essential to our collective stewardship role.
